Deerhill

Acoustic, adventurous, ambitious, and leaning on the idea of the fleeting moment, Sean McFarlane’s Deerhill takes the musical canvas and paints it his own. It’s a balance of soft-punk, high-tailing acoustic, and down to earth jams. “People mostly inspire me. I think they’re pretty neat,” Sean, also a member of local rockers Fat Lizzy, said over email. Hints of Elliott Smith and Mark Linkous from Sparklehorse have inspired the 2019 solo album, Hotel Mystery Dumpster, which you can check out now on Bandcamp.  Songs such as “An Interlude (Lucky Me)” make for an autumnal vibe, crunchy leaves and all, and “Dream” makes you want to roll down your car windows as the banjo comes creeping in. McFarlane appreciates the musical process of working with his friends, Riley and Dash, and enjoys “being an idiot with my buddies before I play.”
